THE HEART OF SENTINEL

The Heart of the Sentinel is simple and the technology around which all of our models are built. We have created a single tube, annular heat exchanger which allows cooling water to pass over a tube specimen which is liquid heated internally to simulate process conditions to provide uniform heat transfer.  The exchanger is made using a clear polycarbonate tube, allowing you the ability to see the tube specimen at any given period of time.

Our standard models have all the same specifications.  A 1-inch annular heat exchanger with a ½ single tube of the metallurgy of choice.  Typically, this is either carbon steel, stainless steel, admiralty brass, or copper.  During the exposure period of your choice, you can view through the polycarbonate window any ongoing corrosion, deposition or scale issues.  In addition, you get a visual early detection and intervention method for bacteria excursions as well as a visual method for possible hydrocarbon contamination of cooling water.

As a result of the increased importance of monitoring critical locations for legionella bacteria, the heart of the Sentinel can be quite literally used for saving lives. With our optional “legionella exchanger,” you can utilize Sentinel to not only monitor heating and cooling systems in sensitive locations, you can also swab a tube specimen at skin temperature for legionella testing.

The Sentinel exchanger allows for increased reliability and efficiency because you really do get results real-time and online, through a window.

SENTINEL MODEL OPTIONS

The Model A is the only model that offers a recirculating simulated process loop in order to using flowing water inside the tube specimen.  This model is the most complex and requires a more hands-on approach to startup and utilization.  This model is for more advanced applications primarily used in heavy industrial situations.

Our most popular model for industrial applications, the Model B uses our standard exchanger design where an immersion heater is utilized inside the exchanger tube specimen, and then surrounded by liquid to provide uniform heat transfer across then entire tube surface.  The Model B is our only model that offers an optional 3rd exchanger configuration for scenarios where it is important to model different metallurgy and conditions simultaneously.

Our most portable and diverse model.  We use the same exchanger style as the Model B, however, it is built into a portable and transportable case with wheels.  This is great for short term installations where it is important to use the visual results quickly and provide a resolution.  It is also a great option for heating and cooling systems as well as a tool that can be used competitively by water treatment & chemical companies.

Custom applications and builds have been made for high pressure, high temperature situations.  This has allowed for Sentinel  by Knew Value technology to be used in SAG-D.  Some applications have been recycled cooling water monitoring and produced water monitoring.
